A Shimmery Winter Woods Holiday Card

Good morning stampers!  I’m sharing another card today that was stamped at a recent demonstrator-only event.  It features the new Winter Woods stamp set from the Holiday Catalogue, and is a very, very pretty card.  There is lots of shimmer to it, and is a good card for those that celebrate the holiday, but not Christmas.

Wendy's Little Inklings: A Shimmery Winter Woods Holiday Card

Winter Woods was created by the Stampin’ Up! artists to coordinate with the Lovely as a Tree and Rooted in Nature stamp sets.  It has a set of coordinating In the Woods Framelits, that cut three of the images from the stamp set.  There are additional dies that cut other elements that work with all of the images.  One fantastic feature is that there are three dies to cut pine boughs, and two to cut pinecones.  It allows you to cut multiple images at the same time – a great time saver!!

Jennifer Tinline created this card, and added different wintry elements from both the Holiday and Annual catalogue.  The stamp itself was embossed on Watercolour Paper using white embossing powder, and a triple strand of Silver & White Baker’s Twine was wrapped around the stamped and spritzed (see below!) paper.  A Glossy snowflake was die cut with the Blizzard Thinlits Die, added to the card with a glue dot, and finished with one of our Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets.

This card has a lot of shimmer to it.  I mentioned above that Jenn used Glossy cardstock for the snowflake.  The cardstock automatically gives it a bit of sheen, and the added bonus is that it adds weight to the snowflake, so it’s not flimsy.

For the shimmer itself, Jenn mixed a couple of drops of Night of Navy re-inker with a very small dollop of Frost White Shimmer Paint into a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with rubbing alcohol.  Be careful not to overfill the spritzer!!  Once mixed, you can spritz it all over the stamped piece.  Make sure that you give your self some space because you don’t want to spritz other projects on your table.  You will also need heavier paper than Whisper White cardstock because the paper needs to be able to absorb the liquid without disintegrating.
