A Little Wild Elephant card with a ribbon colouring tip!

Good morning stampers! Today’s project is A Little Wild Elephant card with a ribbon colouring tip included. It’s incredibly easy to custom colour your ribbon and I have a tip farther down the post. Here’s today project:

This cute card is the last one from this week’s Critter Creations class. Stampers were able to choose between a Petal Pink and a Soft Sea Foam background, so I have added photos of both cards.

Aren’t they adorable? I’m glad that these will be added to my card box, because I’m sure that I will need them in late spring/early summer for a couple of my co-workers.

The colour scheme was pulled from the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper (DSP). Choosing colours from DSP makes it really easy to find something that will work with your project. In this case, I opted for Night of Navy, Gray Granite, Petal Pink and Soft Seafoam. The sentiment was stamped onto the Gray Granite, and then embossed with the Subtles Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder.

*Tip* The ribbon was coloured with a Dark Petal Pink or a Dark Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend marker. Cut the length of ribbon that you want to colour, lay it onto a piece of grid paper, and then colour the ribbon with the thick end of the marker (see below). It dries quickly, and you’ll have coloured ribbon that matches your project. I found with this 18/” Whisper White Sheer Ribbon that the colour bled nicely through to the other side and I only needed to colour one side.

The elephant was stamped with Memento Black ink, and coloured with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends. We don’t have Gray Granite Blends, so I went with the colour most representative of elephants. Here are two close-ups of the cards.

I must mention that the A Little Wild set does have co-ordinating framelits as it was designed to make tags for gifts. However, I don’t own the framelits and don’t anticipate purchasing them. So… I cut the stamps apart. Seriously. You just need a pair of sharp scissors or an X-acto knife.
