If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably saw the line of flamingos on my stamp table last Sunday afternoon. I was playing with the new Fabulous Flamingo stamp set, and messing around with different colour combinations on the birds. I had a ton of fun because although this is considered to be a Two-Step stamp set, I really look at it as a Three-Step set. Layering three different images together gives the birds great depth. We all know that I love flamingos. A lot. Well, a couple of friends gave me new flamingos for my collection as birthday gifts recently, and a flamingo gift needs a flamingo thank you card. Because this was the first card created with our new stamp set, I went with something relatively simple, and easy to replicate.
Two tips for you today:
- The pink of the bird was created with Flirty Flamingo (I know right? The best colour so far has the word flamingo in the title!) I stamped the largest image first, with full strength ink, so I could place it on the card stock exactly where I wanted it to be. The solid flamingo image was inked and stamped off before being stamped onto the card stock. This is how the two-toned colour was created.
- I cut some small corners from a sticky note to cover the flamingo feet before stamping the water. I didn’t want the water flowing over its feet. It would have looked weird.
What did my friend give me for my birthday? A giant flamingo floaty! Do I need one? Nope. Will I use it? Probably not. But my daughter will – she was lying down on it on Friday night, using it as a pillow while texting.
